About Us
Pongsorn Bhumiwat, Founder of The Wild Chronicles
Hello, my name is Pongsorn Bhumiwat. I write the documentary series The Wild Chronicles, which covers historical anecdotes, wars, foreign affairs and travel to unusual places. My aim is to take difficult subjects and explain them in a way that is easy to understand. To that end I have written books and run tours, to share fresh knowledge with those who are interested.
Our Mission
I believe that many of our problems arise from people failing to understand one another. Misunderstanding breeds prejudice and the belief that we are better than others, which leads to racism, sexism, caste discrimination and people being swayed by those in power. So I am determined to do my very best to take subjects that are hard to grasp and explain them simply, from the most neutral perspective I can, in order to communicate and build understanding. In truth, no one is worse or better than anyone else. Everyone is human, with emotions, attachments, problems and goals that differ. I hope that understanding others more will let us look back at ourselves and get to know ourselves better.
About the Founder
My name is Pongsorn Bhumiwat, nickname Pup.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Chulalongkorn University.
I also hold an MA in Publishing from University College London and an MBA from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration.
I have been interested in history, war and unusual foreign affairs since I was a child. In 2013 I was inspired to write about the downfall of the Tamil Tiger rebels in Sri Lanka on Pantip.com, under the pen name 'Chetthaa'. Many people took an interest, which gave me the encouragement to keep writing. I mainly published my work on the Facebook page The Wild Chronicles, and later expanded to other channels.
Books
I have written 7 books on the history of war:
- The Fall of the Tamil Tigers (พยัคฆ์ทมิฬสิ้นชาติ): the Tamil Tiger rebellion in northern Sri Lanka
- Slaughtering the Chechens (เชือดเช็ดเชเชน): the Chechen rebellion in southern Russia
- Asura Ahom (อสุราอาหม): the history of the Tai Ahom people in northern India
- The Promised Land: Blood of Israel (โลหิตอิสราเอล): the history of the Jewish people and the land of Israel
- War on Terror: A Brief History of Terrorism (ประวัติย่อก่อการร้าย): terrorist groups in the Middle East
- The Kurdish Nation: The Sun (สุริยันพันธุ์เคิร์ด): the story of the Kurds of Iraq
- The Kurdish Nation: The Star (ดาวแดงแห่งเคิร์ด): the story of the Kurds of Turkey and Syria
Adventures
Besides writing, I love travelling to different places, usually in a group. I have taken friends on many trips together, often to unusual places, frequently special or disputed territories. Examples include tours to North Korea, northern Sri Lanka (to see the former territory of the Tamil Tiger rebels), Armenia (visiting Artsakh, the territory disputed with Azerbaijan), and Iraq, where we visit Iraqi Kurdistan, a region that wishes to break away and become independent. To this day I keep setting out on new routes to learn about new people and stories. I hope to have the chance to take you on an adventure with me.
