France Calls Plan to Topple Tehran's Government a "Strategic Mistake" as Trump Fumes and Warns People to Evacuate Tehran Immediately

Today French President Emmanuel Macron stated his position in the early hours (European local time). He said that any attempt to overthrow the Iranian government in the current situation would be a "strategic mistake", and confirmed that President Donald Trump has put forward a proposal for a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
"There is indeed a proposal to meet and negotiate, aimed at a ceasefire and opening the way to broader talks. We have to see whether each side follows through."
Macron described Trump's early departure from the summit as a positive development. "I believe negotiations need to start again and civilians need to be protected."
He added that he does not believe the situation will change in the next few hours, but "only when the US confirms it will find a way to a ceasefire, and only when they can put pressure on Israel, might the situation change."
Macron called on both Israel and Iran to "stop" attacking civilians, and warned that aiming to topple the government in Tehran would be a "strategic mistake". He said:
"All who have thought that outside intervention alone, to change a regime, can save a country that does not want it for itself have always been mistaken," Macron said.

Trump, who also had to leave the G7 meeting room early for "reasons not disclosed, but which everyone understands", posted a fiery message on Truth Social:
Iran should have signed the "deal" I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, Iran can never have a nuclear weapon. I have said this over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!
