About this tour
The Marco Polo Trail is a 10-day, 8-night tour of Iran by The Wild Chronicles that follows the merchant and explorer Marco Polo, who entered present-day Iran at Tabriz and was especially fond of Yazd and Kerman.
The route covers the highlights of The Wild Chronicles' classic Iran trip and adds towns where Marco Polo stopped, including Bam Citadel, Rayen Castle, Shazdeh Garden and the Meymand Cave Village, a World Heritage village more than 12,000 years old.
The itinerary also takes in the Shah Mosque in Isfahan, Persepolis, the former US Embassy in Tehran (the "Den of Spies" museum), and a stay at Matinabad Desert Camp with optional camel riding and a desert sunset.
