About this tour
Central Asia Trilogy: The Great Grass Sea is an 8-day, 6-night tour of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, a region where nomadic, Arab, Turkic, Mongol, Persian and Soviet influences meet. Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are called the Switzerland of Central Asia for their grasslands ringed by high mountains, and Uzbekistan was once a centre of the Silk Road. The most recent departure ran 20–27 September 2024.
In Kyrgyzstan the program visits the Burana Tower, the Cholpon-Ata petroglyphs, the ghost village of Enilchek, Karakol with its wooden Holy Trinity Cathedral and Dungan Mosque, a falcon hunting demonstration, a village guesthouse stay at Bystrovka (Kalmak Ashu), Kok Boru horse game and Bishkek's Ala-Too Square. It continues to Almaty in Kazakhstan, with the Zenkov Cathedral and the State Museum with the Golden Man, and ends in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the Hazrati Imam Complex.
The trip is led by Pongsorn Phumiwat (Khun Pap) of The Wild Chronicles together with lecturer Chain Senngam, who has more than 30 years of experience in history tours abroad. Hotels are rated 3 to 4 stars.
