About this tour
Turkmenistan: The Legend of Fire Horse is a 10-day, 8-night tour of three countries on the Silk Road, Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, run as a single departure on 8 - 17 November 2024. Turkmenistan was once home to one of the largest cities in the world, Merv, a major Silk Road trading and scientific centre with more than 200,000 people.
The route goes from Tehran and the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad across the border to Ashgabat, then to Merv, the Akhal-Teke horses at the Ashgabat hippodrome, the Darvaza Gas Crater in the Karakum Desert, Kunya-Urgench, and Khiva's Ichan-Kala in Uzbekistan, ending in Tashkent. Three sites are UNESCO World Heritage listed: Merv, Kunya-Urgench and Ichan-Kala.
The tour is led in person by Pongsorn Phumiwat (Khun Pap), owner of The Wild Chronicles page, with a local guide in each country.
